An OTR is preparing to complete a portion of a multidisciplinary evaluation to determine if a first-grade student is eligible for special education and related services. The student has difficulty completing grade-level classwork due to the inability to remain seated and illegible handwriting. In preparation for the evaluation, the OTR reviews the student’s records and learns that the student lives with both parents and has an older sibling diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who attends the same school.
